It is so refreshing to photograph local weddings for native Prattville, Alabama couples. Although I love traveling, I am very much a homebody. There’s just something nice about sleeping in my own bed, waking up at a reasonable hour and only driving 20 miles down the road to shoot. I love my hometown and love serving its people even more. I’ve shot dozens of weddings at The Alley Station, but it never grows old. I always try to bring fresh perspective, new editing styles, and different poses to compliment each couple I shoot. Each wedding brings unique and different vibes, so I really try to capture the atmosphere of that day for that particular couple. The Grotlisch wedding was, by far, different from other weddings I have shot here. Jessica and Kevin brought beauty and elegance to the most simple details of the day, featuring a candle lit ceremony with minimal floral design.
All of our images were captured in and around The Alley Station, located in the entertainment district of downtown Montgomery. Details images were shot in The Ballroom of the larger Alley Station. This is one of my favorite rooms to photograph because of the beautiful open windows that shed so much natural light. The simple curtain rod separating the ballroom from a private lounging space is perfect for capturing wedding dresses. We start our day off here, then move into getting ready images inside The Warehouse balcony. Jessica and her bridesmaids were so much fun to take pictures with (as you can tell by the pictures below). They really brought a lot of laughter, and light into these moments leading up to Jessica and Kevin’s union.
Kevin wrote a very sentimental letter to Jessica for her to read before the ceremony. Jessica was very touched and moved to tears. They did not do a first look, and instead waited for to see each other for the first time coming down the isle on the Rooftop of the Alley Station. Their ceremony started later in the evening, so we got some really beautiful night time portraits of them!
Their reception also featured a candle lit dinner, giving a very romantic and intimate vibe. The simplicity of the cake, candles and decor really emphasized the relationship of the couple and family and friends they celebrated with. The night ended with a confetti pop exit as Jessica and Kevin kissed one last time before departing to their honeymoon.
