Our bride Amanda has family that is close friends with my wife’s family, simply the most sweetest group of folks you can be around. I was lucky enough to have Amanda choose and trust me to capture her beautiful wedding day in Birmingham, Alabama. I have heard so much about their wedding venue through other wedding vendors and social media. Yet, this was my first time photographing this absolutely perfect wedding venue. One of the major perks about this venue is how wonderful the owners are to work with. I’ve photographed a lot of wedding venues in my time, but I have never experienced the hospitality and the genuineness these owners showed towards the couple and the vendors. Seriously an absolute pleasure working with them, and one of a kind venue.
One rad aspect of this wedding was that they had it on a Friday, and I didn’t have a wedding to shoot that next day. So as a wedding photographer I kind of felt like I was fitting in with the rest of the working class having a somewhat open weekend to enjoy in April. Amanda choose some of the absolute best vendors to make her day special, and it was so rad running into everyone throughout the day. The moment I sat down and discussed photographing Amanda & Bond’s wedding day I realized so much about the two of them. Amanda was a pretty clear bride in expressing her expectations and concerns which is always really helpful to have as a photographer. I could tell there was a lot of emotions leading up to this day, so much more beyond just Amanda & Bond’s love for each other. Lots of laughter, lots of happiness, a little anxiousness, and a some sadness in remembering those that Amanda and her family have lost. Every wedding I photograph has it’s own level of specialness to me, but this one was a little extra special to me because of how fragile this day would be. I feel like the images really express all of those emotions I picked up on during our consultation.
Amanda and Bond kept this day intimate, just a maid of honor and a best man for the bridal party. Just family and close friends in attendance. It was actually a really intimate day for the two of them and their families. Everything took place at the venue which is always awesome to do if it’s possible. The weather was perfect for the outside wedding ceremony, and portraits were beautiful with all of the lush green grass and different backgrounds. Really helped make Amanda pop during her portraits and the same with Bond. It’s pretty cool that there’s just this random rusted out old truck sitting there that definitely had to be used throughout the day! Unbelievable back drop for the ceremony, and Dana’s Floral Design blew it out of the water as they always do. Amanda and Bond chose to do the first look, and we snapped as many wedding portraits of the two of them as we could after they shared that moment. Amanda and Bond’s first look reaction was one of my favorite moments from the day.
The portraits we took after the ceremony are just breathtaking, with the light the way it was the skin tones and backgrounds just look incredible to me. The reception was held in the barn, which was gorgeous as usual considering all of the talented vendors that worked on it. Loved the set up and decor, and love how the reception images turned out throughout the night. Spending my Friday with Amanda and Bond on their wedding day was awesome! Their family and friends were so amazing to be around. These two are cut out for each other and the long haul. Nothing better than photographing best friends in love, congrats to these perfect newlyweds!
